FREMONT, CA: Miele & Cie. KG, a high-end domestic appliances and commercial equipment manufacturer, has announced a proof-of-concept study based on the IoT services from Microsoft Azure that heralds the arrival of smart cooking.

Users can relax and go about their work without having to worry about a new dish they are going to taste in some time that they have never tried preparing before. They may not even know how it is prepared and still end up having that taste blast in the mouth.

The user only needs to browse recipes on Miele’s website and select the meal. Once selected, the recipe is downloaded to the user’s smartphone or tablet and through Microsoft Azure a matching program is loaded onto the oven. From there on everything is automated: appropriate operating mode, cooking time, humidity, temperature and the rest of the factors are taken care of ensuring a yummy experience at the end of the day.

But relax, at this point in time, the joint project is just a study but related applications such as status reporting, remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance already available on the Microsoft platform.

“This is just one example of how the Internet of Things and cloud technology are moving from enterprise experiences to personal experiences,” said Caglayan Arkan, General Manager, Worldwide Manufacturing and Resources, Microsoft. “Miele is driving a truly innovative home solution that we are looking forward to experiencing in our own kitchens.”
